On April 8th, golfing greats Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player open the Masters Tournament with a pair of honorary tee shots on the first hole.
For PXG Ambassador Gary Player, this year holds even more meaning as he celebrates the 60th anniversary of his first win at the Masters Tournament.
While patrons may not adorn the fairways and frame the greens at the 85th Masters, the air of celebration won’t be dampened for the Black Knight.
To help mark 60 unbelievable years since that inaugural Masters win, PXG is proud to release a very special edition cap and challenge coin – so special that only a small number of each were commissioned

MORE ABOUT GARY PLAYER
Gary Player is the most successful international golfer of all time. He has achieved the kind of worldwide acclaim reserved for only a handful of sporting greats. Player has won 165 professional golf tournaments worldwide and is one of only five men to capture golf’s coveted career Grand Slam. He won nine Major championships on the PGA TOUR – including three Masters Tournaments, and nine Major championships on the Senior Tour – and he is the only player in history to complete the career Grand Slam on both Tours.
GARY PLAYER AND PHILANTHROPY
Beyond golf, Player has long committed to philanthropy and has raised more than $62 million for underprivileged children’s education globally through the efforts of The Player Foundation and the Gary Player Invitational series in South Africa, China, USA, UK, UAE, and Japan with a goal to raise $100 million by 2025.
In 2020, Gary Player was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This prestigious award is the nation’s highest civilian honor and recognizes people who have made an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.
“And the one dream I have, I’m not a great believer in legacies. I believe you’re here. You do your best. But honestly, legacies are something that people will forget about, and that’s understandable. But my legacy, if there is one, I would like to be to have spoken to the youth of America to really look after their bodies and to contribute to this country by being productive.”
Cheers to a lifelong ambassador for the game. Congratulations, Mr. Player!
